I am Turning Into My Father

Well, not really. But I no longer consider it a crime to drink a beer from a can.

I bet my Dad drank 90% of his beers from cans. I’m a micro brew drinker and nearly all micros are in bottles. Cans tend to give beer a metallic edge and when you’re dealing with nuances of flavor, the last thing you want to taste is the can. So nearly all micro breweries have always bottled their beers. But the lining of the can has improved and some micros are embracing it, like Surly Brewing here in the Twin Cities. It’s cheaper, it keeps out light better than bottles, and of course, just as recyclable. But this does not mean any of you have any license to hand me a can of Bud, Miller, or Coors.
