The Kindle app for Windows 8 is but a shell of the original PC app and it took me a little bit to figure that out. it wouldn’t pick up anything in my ebooks folder, just the few books I bought through Kindle. Of course, I got a little frustrated. There was no way to make the app scan my ebooks folder either. So I thought something was wrong with the app I had and ended up emailing Amazon. Of course, they weren’t going to tell me that the app for Windows 8 was a polished turd.
So here’s your solution Windows 8 users. Download the Kindle App for Windows 7. Seriously. Your device and Amazon won’t be able to tell the difference, It installed on my laptop in minutes. I directed it to my old ebooks folder and instead of 3 items I now had over 50. So now, as Paul Rodgers once sang, I’ve traveling in style.
