Such a talent, such a pointless and tragic end. I could spend all day watching clips of his performances but gods, this is not the way it should have ended. He was the consummate professional and could uplift even the most mundane material. Of course, given great material he could soar like few others. To die with a needle in his arm, which so much left to do and three young children is the definition of tragedy. I cannot imagine the emptiness and grief his partner must feel. I wish he could have overcome his demons and by all accounts he did try. But we are funny monkeys. Some can abuse themselves to no end, some can walk away, and others just can’t get over the summit. I have no judgement, just sorrow and sympathy. We lost one of the great ones this weekend.
