R.I.P. Harold Ramis

Harold Ramis, SCTV alumni, Ghostbuster, and director of films such as Caddyshack, National Lampoon’s Vacation, and Groundhog Day, passed away this morning at 69. He wrote or cowrote Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters…

By all accounts he was a stand-up guy, a total mensch, and was responsible for the comedic tastes of practically a generation, and influenced most of the writers and directors working comedy today. As a performer, he usually came off as the smart one. While Murray, Belushi, or Ackroyd would be riffing and showing off, he was the one who would slip in the smartest line, that little stiletto that cut your funny bone to the marrow. We lost a giant today.
