Here’s something upbeat to kick off the weekend, George Harrison’s “What is Life”. For a long time politicians and celebrities have been plagued by the question, “who is your favorite Beatle”, like this will unlock the key to everything that person stands for. Most settle for either John Lennon or Paul McCartney. Some oddballs will shoot for Ringo. George is a rare choice but my favorite. He was always on a spiritual quest, a search for the answers to the great questions. He also bankrolled several excellent Monty Python movies. But most of all, he had the best solo album of the bunch: All Things Must Pass.
“What is Life” is a blast of guitar nirvana, George riffing above Phil (total creep, asshole, murderer) Spector’s wall of sound, straining to sing this ode to devotion and love above the din. Crank it up and enjoy your weekend.
