50ef48aa697a1.preview-620 For weeks I’ve been battling the toilet in what we call my wife’s bathroom. It’s a wall toilet as old as my younger brother and it’s innards are in a constant state of decline. Our last trip to Minot I got a new lift chain, handle, etc. I’ve spend about an hour trying to get the damn thing to flush with the top of the tank closed and I think I finally got it. Of course, the new parts will rust out immediately and by Christmas I’ll be reaching into tank to flush it. Replacing wall toilets are an enormous expense and we’re not going to do it until we’re flush ourselves and can do the whole bathroom. So I continue this ritual of resurrection every few months.

Tomorrow I’ll string Christmas lights outside and that will be a far more rewarding (and less frustrating) task. I think…
