What you see above is part of the pattern I carved out on our deck for our dog yesterday. He’s got these little stick legs that don’t do well in any snow depth past half an inch. So I clear pathways for him: the front sidewalk, the deck, and a passage from the deck to the driveway. Pippin likes these little corridors of snow. They give him little walls that he can lift a leg on and hose away on. Pip is used to going out several times a day. Some of it is just aimless wandering around but he does have a small bladder and an even smaller mind. So it’s best to indulge him. As an insecure little dog that was neutered too late in life, he has issues with marking indoors. So we like to keep him drained. Giving him plenty of targets just outside helps with that. Then he doesn’t have to look for a spot when it’s this cold out.
So with all this in mind I got up this morning to clear out the driveway and the front sidewalk. I put on the pair of jeans I had laying on the bed in the man cave, with the legs just down to the floor. The dog had unleashed a soaker on one of the legs sometime in the night. And so it goes.
