Je suis Charlie

Above all this just makes me sad. Sad for the entire human race. Sad that three shit-stains who inhaled an abhorrent ideology felt so threatened by a cartoon and were so far into the dumpster of their beliefs that they felt acting in this way was going to bring about new converts to their cause and perhaps, their eventual victory over the unbelievers. We have been walking this earth as cognizant beings for what, a couple hundred thousand years and we still have to deal with this? It just makes me sad.

I have no answers for this. There is a lot of hand-wringing going on in Europe and across the world on what to do, most of is just flailing around. But I will say this. We humans have to find a way to deal with the wretched religious fundamentalism that is continually throwing itself up against the wall in protest of progress. Fundamentalism that drives a transgender teen to commit suicide because their parents cannot reconcile their beliefs with the reality of what their own child is. Fundamentalism that drives frightened young men to kill in the mistaken belief they are furthering their cause and protecting their faith. It’s a curse running through our species and we have to find an end to it before it means the end of us. It just makes me sad.
