I woke up early this morning and decided to defrost the freezer. Gods, what a nightmare. We have to do this every couple months but this time it was ridiculous. It took damn near three hours for this mess to thaw and it took almost constant monitoring as the glacial mass dripped-dripped-dripped into two cookie sheets, two 9×13 pans, and a couple of towels on the floor. I heartily look forward to procrastinating this procedure well into the fall.
I spent the rest of the morning mowing the lawn in cool temperatures and high humidity. I suppose that I could have done it in pieces but I’m trying to get everything done before we have to drop everything and run to Bismarck. Now I just have to clean out the interior of the Family Truckster which is covered in dust and dog hair. Yeah, that will be fun in 103% humidity.
In writing news, I’m working on a new opening chapter. The current one is fine according to all that have read it but I need something with even more snap to it. So I’ve been delving into research in early submarines, Jules Verne, airships, and more things steam. Now I just have to figure how blow up a naval yard. Cuz I wanna blow it up real good.
